What to Consider When Buying A Server Rack/ Cabinet

When it is time to buy a server rack/ cabinet for your place, you might wonder what types of the new cabinet should you buy. Here are some food for thought before starting your shopping.

Buying A Server Rack/ Cabinet

1. Think about how you are going to run your power, network, fiber, etc. It is also wide to plan a vertical wire management.
2. Buy a server cabinet that comes with front to back cooling and fully perforated doors. This will help create lots of of space for airflow.
3. Find the cabinet that is deep enough for what you might want to put in it.
4. Always make sure if the cabinet you are going to buy has standard mount points for vertical mount PDU.
5. Most of the latest industry standard now caters square holes rather than round holes. With this you will no longer have a problem with stripping out threading and messing up all the rack rail. What more is that you can always put a cage nut in the holes whenever you need threads.
6. Get a cabinet that has a proper heavy-duty and bolt down points for stability purpose to handle density of recent equipments.
7. If you are getting a cabinet with doors, the door should be easy to remove and put back on.

It is important to know what you want before deciding on getting a server rack or cabinet. Since most server equipment these day can accept a certain depth, you should pick ones with a depth that will cover up all your gears.
